Blog

Welcome to all pianists and piano lovers!  On this blog, I hope to share my endless enthusiasm for all things piano.  Although trained as a classical pianist from age 4, over the past 20 years I have been incorporating jazz, gospel, and Afro-Caribbean music into my teaching.  The more improvisatory musical traditions are wonderful for expanding the ear, freeing the mind, and experiencing that state of “flow” that comes from being in the moment with the music.  Children often take to improvisation easily, as it is a form of “play.”  Adults can do this as well, if they are able to turn off their self-critical monitors and learn to just enjoy the process of making music.
